Janie Regier: Outstanding Graduate Student in Public Administration
Breaking Barriers, Building Justice: Janie Regier’s Journey in Public Service

Janie Regier is a proud Mexican-American, born and raised in Chula Vista, CA. She was the first in her immediate family to graduate from high school, and after that, experienced a challenging academic journey to get to this point of earning her Master of Public Administration – Criminal Justice Administration.
Despite the academic hurdles, Janie has spent the first fifteen years of her career working in public service. Currently, she is an Equity Impact Manager with the County of San Diego, Office of Equity and Racial Justice, where she leads the implementation of a variety of tools to create meaningful systems change. She is also the Office’s liaison to the County’s Public Safety Group departments and has an active role in informing the implementation of the Alternatives to Incarceration initiative.
Janie is deeply grateful for all her mentors, family, and friends that have supported her on her life’s journey so far. She is especially grateful for her husband, Marc, their son, and their fur-baby, Kona.
