Dr. Marcus Weakley brings extensive experience in graduate writing support and rhetoric to his role as an embedded writing consultant for the School of Public Affairs.

In addition to the university-wide SDSU Graduate Writing Center, the School of Public Affairs is pleased to offer additional, dedicated writing support for our graduate students beginning in Spring 2026.

The School has secured Dr. Marcus Weakley as an embedded writing consultant to provide individualized, discipline-aware support for graduate-level writing and academic projects. Through a combination of virtual drop-in hours and scheduled one-on-one appointments, Dr. Weakley will be available five hours per week to assist students at all stages of the writing process. While he does not provide editing, he can support students with idea development, organization, argumentation, clarity, structure, revision strategies, and presentation preparation.

Dr. Weakley brings extensive experience working with graduate students across disciplines. He currently serves as Director of the Center for Writing & Rhetoric and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Transdisciplinary Studies Program at Claremont Graduate University. Since 2013, he has worked in writing centers and graduate programs as a consultant, instructor, and workshop facilitator. He has also previously worked with SDSU graduate students through dissertation bootcamps hosted by the Office for Graduate Life and Diversity and writing workshops in the College of Engineering.
