The Innocence Center, based in San Diego and founded in 2023, is an independent nonprofit law firm dedicated to exonerating individuals wrongfully convicted of crimes, advocating for criminal justice reform, and supporting exonerees in rebuilding their lives. Established by experienced legal professionals, including former members of the California Innocence Project. The Center builds on decades of success, having helped free over 40 innocent individuals who collectively spent more than 560 years in prison. The organization employs cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence and automation to improve case intake and analysis, responding to more than 1,500 new requests for assistance annually.

Beyond individual case advocacy, the Center works on broader policy reform through the California Innocence Coalition, helping pass legislation to reduce wrongful convictions and improve support systems for exonerees. Their efforts also include public education, raising awareness about the causes of wrongful convictions such as faulty forensic science, eyewitness misidentification, and official misconduct.

Individuals can support the Center by donating directly through their website, attending public events, spreading awareness on social media, or volunteering professional skills, particularly in legal, forensic, and communications fields.
