Bio
My name is Sammi Perry. I was born and raised in Hong Kong and lived in Japan for over four years before moving to San Diego. My diverse background and ability to speak four languages advanced me to become a fast learner and problem solver.
I interned at the Felony Department at San Diego Superior Court for three and half years. I supported many projects, including Homeless Court and the Franklin Proceeding. My responsibility for both projects included data research & analysis, background check, calendar preparation, ascertaining fines and fees, ordering cases, communication with judges and attorneys, etc. Other than the responsibilities for Homeless Court and the Franklin Proceeding, I was also required to assist with essential court operations duties for infractions, misdemeanors, and felonies which included updating cases, purging cases, distributing dockets, organizing documents, and more. These responsibilities allowed me an opportunity to be proficient in various criminal case management systems and financial systems.
I recently completed my bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Public Administration at SDSU. My professional and educational experience influenced me to gain an interest in social justice. My career goal is to become an urban planner to improve our quality of life. As the population increases rapidly, we need more sustainable solutions for future needs and climate change. Through the MPA program, I hope to gain management skills and a better understanding of economic development and public policy, which can help me work toward my future professional goal.
