Bio

My name is Stephen Khan John and I started out at San Diego State University as a transfer student from San Diego City College. While at State, I had the opportunity to operate a profitable business for a few years while studying to earn my Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Economics. Six years later, I have decided to return back to earn a Master of Public Administration degree in order to achieve my long-term professional goal of becoming a real estate executive within the affordable housing sector.

I have spent the last ten years serving hundreds of men, women and children experiencing homelessness, and have held various roles at a variety of nonprofit organizations. These organizations include Home Start, The San Diego Rescue Mission, and People Assisting The Homeless (PATH). In addition to this, I have interned for Community HousingWorks, a local nonprofit developer of affordable apartment communities, and hold eight years of voluntary experience with the City Heights Community Development Corporation.

Furthermore, I have completed twelve industry-related professional certificates. Among these certificates include Harvard University’s Negotiation program, the Real Estate Finance, Investment, and Development program through the University of San Diego, Pepperdine University’s Executive Leadership Development program and Corporate Social Responsibility program, the Professional Certificate in Grant Writing program through San Diego State University’s Global Campus, the Essential Management Skills for Nonprofit program offered by California State University San Marcos, and the Affordable Housing Professionals certificate program from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

In the New Year ahead, I plan on earning the Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) designation, as well as the Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation. I am passionate about helping those in need and it’s a commitment that I dedicated my life and career to.
