Michael Wheat has served as a federal prosecutor for four decades, handling a wide variety of criminal cases including public corruption, violent crimes, drug smuggling, and immigration offenses in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, and Hawai’i. In addition to thousands of investigations and pleas, he has tried over 200 cases to jury verdict. During this time, he taught at the Department of Justice National Advocacy Center at the University of South Carolina. Wheat has been a Lecturer at SDSU since 1996 and teaches Prosecutorial Function in the fall; and Law, Society, and Homeland Security in the Graduate Program in Homeland Security in the spring.
